Thanks
to a $720 million spacecraft called the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter,
which maps the landscape of Mars, NASA has just released an incredible
1,000 new images of the red planet.
The
reason for such a big haul is that every 26 months Mars and the sun are
on the opposite sides of the earth, which gives the MRO and its camera
(named HiRise) a clear view of the planet - thus resulting in even
better quality images than normal.
The
mission, which has been running since 2006, hopes to find the best
space possible for a future manned mission to Mars, with the added bonus
of taking some incredible photos along the way.
Head over to the HiRise website if you've got enough time to kill to scroll through all 1,000 images.
